Education and Experience:
Must possess a Master’s degree with an endorsement as a Reading Specialist.
Two years of successful classroom teaching experience in which the teaching of reading was the primary responsibility.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Orton Gillingham or Wilson Reading certified and/or experience.
Knowledge of different learning styles and ability to differentiate instruction.
Be familiar with a multi-sensory approach to learning.
Knowledge of research and best practices related to reading instruction.
Ability to collect and analyze meaningful student data and use this data to implement student specific learning plans.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Provide direct instruction to students, individually or in small groups, in addition to push-in to the classroom.
Identify at risk students and implement a plan of action to improve their reading.
Gather, compile and disaggregate data. Use diagnostic data to tailor instruction to meet the needs of the student.
Document student intervention and progress.
Infuse technology into instruction.
Communicate with teachers and parents regarding reading levels and student progress.
Possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
